Even if you missed Georgetown’s 23rd annual Wooden Boat Show this past weekend (Oct. 20) don’t miss a visit to this quaint historic town. Georgetown is a great day trip or weekend get-a-way.
Georgetown’s Historic District boasts more than 50 homes and buildings on the National Register of Historic Places. Other historical stops include the Kaminski House Museum, home to a Confederate Sea Captain and later a Naval Commander, the Rice Museum and Georgetown County Museum.
Stroll the Harborwalk, at the water’s edge and enjoy a relaxing lunch at one of several restaurants and pubs overlooking the Sampit River. After lunch explore Front Street with its many quaint shops, art gallery, and restaurants.
In addition to Georgetown, there are other nearby areas to explore on your trip including Pawley’s Island and Murrell’s Inlet. Stay tuned as we explore these areas over the next couple of weeks. (Sign up to receive updates from Southern-Traveller so you don’t miss these great travel destinations!)
