(by Sarah Chambers, Southern-Traveller Restaurant Reviewer)
Named one of the Top 20 Best New Restaurants by Esquire Magazine, O-Ku will not disappoint. With a wide variety of Sake, Wine, and Cocktails (and even “Mocktails”) there is bound to be something for everyone. The menu consists of everything from sushi and petite plates to Izakaya (Japanese street food) and main entrees. A very friendly and knowledgeable staff, help add to the experience and aid in finding the right drink and food choices specifically for you.
Sushi is key to begin your food experience at O-Ku. The Tropical Roll or Lobster Roll comes highly recommended or the Firecracker Roll for those who like some heat. The house salad is far from ordinary with local Sweet Bay mesclun mix, Fuji apple, and ginger carrot vinaigrette. For the third course I recommend the grilled duck with sautéed seasonal organic local vegetables and orange mango remoulade. Make sure to end your meal with one (or two) of the several desserts from Wild Flour Pastry.
