Where to eat

Jiko, The Cooking Place
Adults will enjoy this AAA Four-Diamond restaurant at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge with its flavors of African, Indian, and Mediterranean cuisine. Its seasonal menu includes vegan, vegetarian and meat-based dishes which are out of this world! Jiko also boasts the world’s largest selection of South African wines. Try the “Taste of Aprica” Appetizer for starts. And don’t skip dessert–I recommend the “Pistachio Creme Brulee.”

Bomo–Flavors of Africa
A family-friendly buffet at Animal Kingdom Lodge offering breakfast and dinner in a setting that resemblean African marketplaces. Serves typical breakfasts of eggs, pancakes, french toast, bacon, sausage, Afrian pastries and corn beef bobotie–a type of quiche. Dinner features flavors of over 50 African countries from the coast of the Mediterranean to the Indian Ocean.

The Brown Derby Restaurant Located in Disney’s Hollywood Studios,  this restaurant is an authenic replica of the famous Brown Derby in Hollywood, CA, where the wood-paneled walls are adorned with caricatures of Tinselltown’s biggest and brightest personalities. Be sure to order the restaurant’s signature dish– the famous Brown Derby Cobb Salad (recipe created by Bob Cobb, the owner of the California restaurant) and the grapefruit cake. (Copies of the Cobb Salad recipe are available to bring home so that you can recreate this fabulous dish).

Grand Floridian Cafe
Stop in at the Grand Floridian for a wonderful lunch in this resort hotel’s relaxing Victorian-style dining room with views of the porch and pool. My husband swears by the Ruben Sandwich–grilled to perfection and stacked full of corned beef. My favorite was the selection of mini-desserts including the Chocolate Mouse Cake or the Tirmisu. (Even if you’re not staying at the resort, the Grand Floridian can easily be reached via the monorail from the Magic Kingdom).

Epcot–Worldshowcase–the best eats:

Bistro de Paris
For out of this world French pastries, be sure to stop at France’s Bistro de Paris during your world travels around Epcot’s World Showcase. Salads and sandwiches also available.

Rose & Crown Pub & Dining Room
While in the United Kingdom, enjoy fish and chips on their outdoor patio–great place to watch (and keep dry) during Florida’s afternoon downpours!

Biergarten Restaurant
While in Germany, enjoy a German Oktoberfest, complete with  Brats, pretzels, beer and entertainmet.

Lotus Blossom Cafe
Pick up a quick and reasonably-priced lo mein lunch while visiting China.
